As we start to head into Spring and the warmer months our focus will head towards outdoor living and spending more time outside. If you’re anything like us, come the summer months you crave dinners outside on the deck and entertaining friends and family for an impromptu barbeque. So, what things can you start to put in place to ensure you make the most of the warmer weather when it arrives.

1. If you don’t have a deck or paving area already set up for outdoor living, then this is probably where you want to start. How grand you go will depend on your budget – but keep in mind making the area as diverse as possible so that you can use whatever the weather– ideally some sort of cover is ideal – and if it’s not a roof, some quality umbrella’s that can be easily moved as the sun moves. Just make sure you look after them by popping the cover on in the cooler months or if you are not using for a while.

2. If you have room, it is ideal to have both a more casual couch area and a dining area. Choose a table to suit the shape of your outdoor area. Make sure you chose something durable and comfortable.

3. Add colour with cushions and pots of colour. You can have a bit more fun outside with vibrant colours. The warmer months are meant to be full of fun and laughter so create this vibe with your styling. Candles area a great way to dress up coffee tables and dining tables as well as your deck or paving area. They beautiful when lit at night and create a lovely ambiance.

4. If you live in the southern states of Australia you may want to consider outdoor heaters so you can get the maximum use of your outdoor area. Heatstrip heaters are great.  

5. To make the most of your outdoor area, an outdoor kitchen or at least a barbeque is essential. If you have the budget go the full distance and have a drinks fridge and full outdoor kitchen with bench space and rangehood etc. Make sure you keep in mind ventilation when installing your barbeque. If it is under cover you will definitely need a quality rangehood to draw out the cooking smells and smoke to you don’t get smoked out!
